"Comrades, it is my sincere honor to speak in support of Comrade David Sousa for the high office of Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, 2028-2029. I first met David right after he joined the VFW in 2004. At that time, he was a full time member of the Nevada Army National Guard. I immediately recognized that this young Comrade was indeed someone special. He embraced the ideals, concepts and purposes of our organization with a vigor for learning about all the facets of our organization, what we do and why we do it. It was no surprise to me when Comrade Sousa rapidly ascended through the ranks of leadership positions at the Post, District and Department levels. David surpassed all expectations with excellence in every position he held. I was extremely proud to have him as the State Commander of my home State, the year that I was Commander-in-Chief. He is a highly respected member of the National Council of Administration and was clearly my obvious choice to serve as the Operations Officer for the 127th VFW National Convention in Reno, Nevada in 2026. His determination, honesty, compassion and integrity are beyond reproach. He possesses those qualities of dedicated leadership, impeccable honor and selflessness that we all would be wise to emulate. The VFW is ready for Comrade David Sousa and Comrade Sousa is ready to lead our Great Organization into the future. Challenge this demonstrated achiever and reap the rewards! Therefore, it is with great pride and clarity of purpose, that I announce my unwavering support of Comrade David Sousa, from the Great State of Nevada, for the High Office of Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, for the year 2028-2029."
"I am proud to support and endorse my good friend David Sousa for the position of Junior Vice Commander and Chief Designate for the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2027. David is a passionate advocate for all veterans, service members, their families, and Gold Star families. He works tirelessly to ensure that the sacrifices of our war heroes are never forgotten. In fact, he has established two memorials in Sparks, Nevada, to honor their memories and reassure families that their losses will always be remembered. Once again, it is my honor to endorse and support David Sousa for Junior Vice Commander and Chief Designate of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States."
"As a Vietnam Veteran and practicing Attorney for 40 years in Reno, Nevada, I support David Sousa for National Commander and Chief Junior Vice Designated. David is the epitome of Veterans helping Veterans. While David is himself a highly decorated Army Veteran, he has continued to serve his country through his exhaustive efforts to help Veterans. The man lives to serve and brings integrity, honesty, community values and friendship to every task. This is not something that David started recently. David has always served with Honor during his Army career and every day since. I salute David Sousa."
"I want everyone to know why I support David Sousa for the position of Commander-in-Chief Designee for 2027. I have been trying to remember when I first met David Sousa, and I believe it was when I was VFW Jr Vice Commander for the Department of Nevada in 2005. David was Commander of VFW Post 3396 Silver State at that time. I knew when I met him, he was motivated and wanted to learn by asking questions to make our VFW State better. He got back from serving in Operation Freedom in 2004 where he earned his eligibility into the VFW. He has always been passionate and tried to make the VFW Department of Nevada better. His service in the Army, retiring after 22 years, speaks for itself that he is the kind of person that can get along with others. He has also been very involved in a lot of projects in his community. He has led by example by becoming a Triple Crown Recipient. He has made a difference at the Post, District, and State levels as a Commander for each. He is currently serving as the National Council of Administration member for the Department of Nevada. He jumped in and volunteered to be the VFW Department Adjutant in 2022 when our Adjutant suddenly passed away. He steps up wherever there is a need and still holds the Adjutant position. I totally support David Sousa for Commander-in-Chief Designee for 2027."
"There are many reasons I support David Sousa for VFW Commander and Chief. The main reason, and I believe the most important reason, is that he legitimately cares about the people he represents. I have known Mr. Sousa for 6 years. I met him through a Gold Star Family event in Sparks, Nevada. I am a Gold Star Family having lost several family members to war. From day one, Mr. Sousa has supported me and my family and my status as a Gold Star. He constantly includes us in Gold Star events and gatherings. My number one goal as a Gold Star is to never let people forget my family. Mr. Sousa has helped me numerous times in this endeavor. I have also been able to watch Mr. Sousa help many other organizations. He does this tirelessly and without any thoughts for his own time or money. I have seen him spend countless hours working with Honor Flight Nevada, Gold Star Families of Nevada, the Nevada Veterans Memorial, the VFW both at the state and national levels, and my own non-profit Highway 39 Gold Star Foundation, among many others. His work is tireless, selfless, caring and kind. I know Mr. Sousa has his constituents' best interests at heart and he doesn’t rest until every last person is helped. You don’t find many people like this. Mr. Sousa has my utmost support for VFW Commander and Chief!"
